The millions of Kaminoans who occupied Tipoca worked either with the cloning program or with the bureaucracy. No Kaminoans took residence within the city, nor was there any public space. Nearly all Kaminoans who worked within the city lived in numerous satellite cities situated around the capital. Constant traffic ran to and from Tipoca, as workers, bureaucrats, and many others traveled to and from their homes. The only living space in the city was the quarters of the prime minister and the military staff, and a group of apartments for cloning scientists.

3D Model: The evolution of Scifi suburbs blocks
After the glorious era of my model sci-fi blocks of 2009, I thought it was time to create a new set of blocks for the creation of futuristic cities.
I learned a lot from the first version, for example, that you should not overdo the number of polygons and the Variety of the blocks must be extensive.
So compared to the first version, this provides 10 blocks and the numbers of polygons are optimized, also 2 special models with some street neon billboard is provided.
The model will be soon available in the marketplace and those who have already purchased the original version of 2009 will get a special rebate

3D free Model : Cantina Bar Released!
As you can see here the model inspired by the famous Cantina Bar from Stawars (TM) is ready and you can download it from this page.
The biggest effort has been made to the internal part of the model, whereas the outside is not particularly detailed.
The version for 3d studio max contains some arches very detailed, to avoid a 600 MB file as obj these arches were removed, so if you use the max version is better if your PC has enough RAM to have no performance problems.
Here 2 fast rendering made with Vue 10 for rendering made with 3d Studio (and a little stupid video promo) take a look here.
The model is released in 3 file format: .MAX for 3d studio max 2010 (vray 2) . OBJ (with maps and .mtl) and .VOB for Vue 8, download the zip form here (91 megabytes)

"Hutt Castle, often simply called Jabba the Hutt's Palace after its owner, a large stone and durasteel complex, was located at the fringes of the Northern Dune Sea on the planet of Tatooine. Originally erected as a monastery of the B'omarr Order, the buildings eventually fell into the hands of two major crimelords: first an outcast and gang leader called Alkhara and later Jabba the Hutt, a notorious crime lord from Nal Hutta.
While the structure underwent many additions in the way of fortification and technological advances, the basic structure of the complex remained the same throughout its existence. Composed of a central rotunda and a taller spire adjacent to it, the ridge-side retreat also boasted an underground hangar and maintenance bay. Deep in the monastery's subterranean chambers, Jabba the Hutt made a throne room which sat on top of a pit housing a pet rancor. The Hutt used this beast for a dual purpose: protection and entertainment. At the flick of a switch, a concealed door in the floor of the chamber could deposit a threatening guest into an inescapable pit while onlookers could watch as the rancor made short work of its meal."*
With the buildings model the package have also a terrain for the best positioning of the palace.

I never imagined such a big success for the model of the royal palace of Naboo: thousands of downloads!
Free model Naboo palace |
For those who do not know the palace of Naboo (the saga of Star Wars) is a free model that you can download for free from my website at this link.
Another view of free model Naboo palace |
Unfortunately the palace building is not enough to recreate the atmosphere of the capital city of the planet Naboo, marked by numerous buildings in neoclassical style.
So I decided to create a dozen buildings inspired by some photographs retrieved from the film Star Wars: The Clone Wars.
Here you can see another image made with Vue 10 (some star wars stuff come from http://www.scifi3d.com/), the package will soon be available on the marketplaces with which I am affiliated.
Simply participating in the Rodluc's competition2012, how? simply send an image to the competition and automatically you will appreciate the package! take a look here for competition timing and rules.
Stay tuned and don't miss the opportunity to get for free this awesome package (format: obj with maps and textured, vob for vue 10 and max for vray2 and 3d studio max 2010).
Free 3D model: an unnecessary rubber toy!
I stole a toy from my son and I took pictures from different angles.
Then using a 3D photo reconstruction software I created a model, which I corrected several defects using Zbrush, the result is a useless 3D model of a toy that I give you for free gladly :)
You can download from here (30 mega zip, format vob for vue8, max for 3d studio max 2010 and Obj for all the others, map included)

“The distance between the cities of Rimini and San Marino is thirteen miles, and the road, though so steep when within a few miles of the mountain as to require the addition of oxen to the carriage, is kept in excellent condition. After a pleasant drive of ten miles through a fertile valley abounding in vineyards and cornfields, the traveller arrives at the northern boundary of the republic. Here a stone formerly bore on one side the initials S. P. (Pontifical States), and on the other R. S. M. (Republic of San Marino), but time has obliterated all traces of the letters.”

Venice by Night : a tutorial about lights!
The city lights at night are always fascinating.
So I decided to try to make my own version of the 3D night view of a city, thanks to CityEngine I exported the fantastic model of Venice as OBJ and I imported into 3d studio max.
using a dim light and the engine Vray GI I defined the minimum required light level.
I finally i've solved the lighting from the bottom of the houses with a little trick: I've duplicated the mesh walkpath, which runs around the houses and using a VRayLight with the mesh parameter to indicate that that the light would be produced directly from the mesh.
You can also play with the light parameter "texture" and use some HDRI map to create nice light effect like this one:
...and a little video... (watch in HD!!)
